Ending the Year Well: Reflection Tips

LOOKING BACK WITH GRATITUDE & AHEAD WITH HOPE

As the year draws to a close, many families take time to slow down and reflect on the moments that shaped them. For foster parents, this season offers an opportunity to celebrate progress, express gratitude and set intentions for the year ahead—together as a foster family.

Ending the Year Well: Reflection Tips for Foster Families
FOSTER PARENT TIP
With the year winding down, take time to pause and reconnect. A simple check-in (‘How are you feeling about everything lately?’) can go a long way in helping the children in your care feel seen, heard and supported during a busy season.
TRAINING CORNER
Winter break can bring excitement, rest and fun — but it can also create stress for children in care. The sudden shift away from school routines, increased downtime and disruptions to normal patterns can heighten anxiety and emotional responses. For many youth, long breaks from school also mean fewer support systems, more opportunities for memories or grief to surface and a higher need for stability at home. Foster parents play a vital role in helping kids feel grounded and supported during this transition.

FOSTER FAMILY OF THE MONTH

Josh and Christina Glore felt a clear calling from God to open their home to children in need. In April 2024, they said “yes” without hesitation to fostering two children. Just one month later, they welcomed those children’s siblings—bringing their foster count to four, alongside their four biological kids!

After months of challenges, perseverance, and unwavering love, the Glore family celebrated a beautiful milestone: officially adopting all four siblings and making them permanent members of their family.

TFI is truly blessed by the Glore family. Their boundless energy, exceptional communication, and humble hearts make them an incredible example of what fostering is all about. The family wants to remain a TFI family and assist support other homes by providing respite.
